Are you taking great photos with your phone or your digital camera? Would you like to start selling them?
Foap is a great way to start turning your photos into real money. The first step is to download the mobile app (which is for free on iOS and Android devices) and upload your photos. Photo buyers searching for photos will find your images on the Foap Market where they can license them for $10 each. We split the money with you, so for each photo you sell you make $5 and you can sell the same photo unlimited number of times.
Here are some tips on how to increase your chances of selling your photos:
- Upload many photos
The more high quality images in your portfolio, the better. There are thousands of photos on Foap and our buyers are browsing through them constantly to find the perfect image answering their specific needs. By uploading many high quality images you increase the chances that someone finds your photo.
- Make it diverse
Try uploading really different pictures to maximize your chances. Sticking to one subject limits the number of your potential buyers. Upload your photos from vacations, from a barbecue party with your friends or from your morning walk with your dog. It’s all about authentic images showing everyday situations.
- Add relevant tags
Tags are keywords that you can describe your photo with – they make it visible in the search on the Foap Market, so it’s really important to tag your photos properly. You can add from 5 to 100 tags to each of your photos. It’s best to add as many tags as possible, but only those that really describe a photo in a relevant way. Imagine taking a shot of a mother with a child playing in the park. Now, think about the words the buyer might use when searching for this kind of image. It probably would be: “mother”, “kid”, “play”, “park”. You might add some additional tags if they really describe the most visible parts of the photo like: “smile”, “ball”, “dog”, “girl”, “trees”. Make sure to add only relevant tags. If for example there is a lake in the background, but it’s really blurred and hard to recognize, there is no point in tagging the photo with “lake”. No one looking for photos of lakes will choose to buy it and by doing that you’re making it harder for the photo buyers to find relevant photos.
- Get inspired
Flowers are beautiful, but let’s be honest – how many brands are using flowers in their communication? The best way to get an idea of what sells is to check the Latest sold tab in the app. These are usually photos of people and everyday situations captured in a really natural way.
- Engage with the Community
Foap is a Community of people passionate about photography. We all share the same passion, learn from each other and improve our skills. Engage with the Community, start following other Foapers, leave comments on their photos and rate the ones you really like. You might learn a lot and also more people will get to know you and your photos.
- Join Missions
Join the Missions and upload photos answering very specific needs of the brands. Be sure to read the description carefully and submit photos matching it exactly. Missions are a great way to challenge yourself and take photos of new things. They also have really nice prizes starting from $100.
Finally, try experimenting with different strategies and ideas on how to grow your portfolio. There are many factors that impact which picture gets sold and you need some time to understand them all well.

I think a lot of these people that post pics are cheaters and arnt their own work. I have googled alot of photos on here and they pop up on different sites with different people that say its there’s!!!
I’ve wondered about verification processes and how we know it’s been researched to see if it’s original work.

I had this issue too. I expanded my main focal point of my pic, and then was finally able to upload my pic.
On my phone I made the image appear even larger by pulling 2 fingers in opposite directions (at the same time). I hope this helps. ; ) Happy Photo Taking ; )

I’m new I want to learn
Where do you go to rate other people’s photos?
Just read the User Agreement. Doesn’t sound like much of a deal to give up your copyright and your right to be named as photographer for 5 bucks. I’ll pass.
Is there a reason why there is no way to upload photos while on PC? If it was taken away, I think it would be a good idea to either bring it back or let all of us photographers know. Mobile is fine for upload, but I do not always wish to use my phone to take pictures. I have a camera for a reason.
how do I link my PayPal to FOAP so I can sell my photos? Also, where do I go on FOAP to view the photos I have already uploaded? Thanks
How do I put my pictures in a folder
Ok, if those that are waiting for answer still, I have an answer. One of the support team finally emailed me back not too long ago and told me that you can only upload your pictures on your smartphone. But I do not know the reason why I can not see my pictures that I have uploaded on PC.
can some one tell me how to get photos off my computer or can I only use my phone?
Try emailing them to yourself from your computer. Then, open the email on your phone, and you can save them to “photos” on your phone.
how do i upload photos via my mac book? i do not keep all my photos on iphone…. please advise somebody! thank you.
I just joined Foap – when I filled out my info there were no questions about payment methods. In the event I do sell a photo, will they ask then for info to pay me? Or did I miss something?
This looks like a great way for other people to place one of my photos in their portfolio, so they get $5 commission instead of me.
I love being photographed nude and taking photos of my girl nude. Is it ok to post our nude photos in the contest or post them for sale ?
Hi Lyle! Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we do not allow nude photography at this point, because underage users have access to the platform. We hope you can still enjoy Foap by participating in missions and uploading appropriate photos. Good luck 😉
I have been uploading my pictures, I want to know how I will sell them
Hi Ugochi! You can sell your pictures in the Foap Market or in one of the Missions. Once your photos are uploaded, they are ready to be purchased by anyone.
